*   Read our "Issues & Impacts" tab to learn how this proposed development will affect our community and the entire Broadneck Peninsula.

*  URGENT UPDATE!  Please write a version of the Sample Letter (found on the "Sample Letter" tab above) opposing overdevelopment in Arnold, MD & the Broadneck Peninsula to the Anne Arundel County Planning & Zoning Officer.  Be sure to note that building in Chesapeake Bay Critical Areas is unacceptable.  For the East Joyce Lane proposed development in particular, it's important to note that townhomes are uncharacteristic of this neighborhood currently comprised completely of single-family homes.  Your letter should be addressed to:

Mr. Larry R. Tom
Planning and Zoning Officer
Heritage Office Complex
2664 Riva Road
Annapolis, Maryland 21401

*   Print out and mail a version of our Sample Letter (a list of suggested recipients with addresses and contact information is included on our "Sample Letter" tab . . . modify the letter with any changes or additions you desire and then mail to those you choose from the list . . . phone calls or emails are also options.)

*   Sign our online petition  (simple go to the "Petition" tab above to do so)

*   Spread the word . . . tell your friends and neighbors about the proposed development and it's impacts and direct them to this website for updates.

*   Attend the Arnold Conservation Team (ACT) meetings (check this website's home page for dates and times) and/or Anne Arundel County Council Meetings to show your support for this important cause.

Broadneck Small Area Plan Vision Statement . . .

(From the Anne Arundel County Planning & Zoning Website)

"The citizen's vision for The Broadneck Peninsula is first and foremost to preserve the unique residential and close-to-nature character of our communities, while making specific improvements that encourage the revitalization of existing commercial areas.  Our challenge is to channel anticipated growth in ways that are beneficial to the whole community; encourage the preservation of greenspaces; beautiful waterways and historic and scenic roads; maintain excellent schools; protect our local roads from excessive traffic growth; link neighborhoods and community resources with walking and bicycle trails; and improve recreation facilities."

Arnold Preservation Council Website:

www.preservearnold.org

"The Arnold Preservation Council is uniting the people of Arnold, Maryland to enhance our character as a desirable community that preserves its rural heritage and healthy environment by advocating responsible growth, linked neighborhoods, local small businesses and our excellent schools."

Quote from Governor Martin O'Malley's Website:

“God gives us not only the intellect and imagination to harness nature but the intellect and compassion to protect and conserve it.”
